Scene2 Wins GOLD Award at Brand Licensing Europe 2025

Recognising sustainable design leadership for NBC Universal Studios exhibition stand & building on Scene2’s design excellence and sustainability commitment.

Scene2 Ltd is proud to announce that we have been awarded GOLD for the Better Stands Pre-Event design submission for Universal Studios Limited at Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) 2025 in London.

This Gold rating celebrates not only Scene2’s creative excellence but acknowledges the quality and clarity of our design submissions.  It is another win in our long-standing commitment to bringing sustainable, theatre-driven creative design thinking into the exhibition and experiential arena.

Why This Award Matters

The Better Stands programme is adopted widely across the exhibition sector.  It promotes a shift away from single-use, disposable stand design & construction and is moving the industry towards modular, reusable, responsibly fabricated structures.

GOLD is only awarded to those who demonstrate:

  • Outstanding clarity and responsiveness during the design-submission phase
  • Fully compliant, build-ready, and sustainably considered design and documentation
  • Commitment to reducing waste, re-use of materials, and more circular build processes
  • Alignment with exhibitor sustainability goal
  • Proactive leadership in achieving them

For BLE 2025, our collaborative approach to working directly with NBC Universal Studios exemplified all of the above.

Our design centred on creativity, reusability, precision engineering and material efficiency. We believe in demonstrating how innovative scenic design & construction, originally shaped by our theatre heritage, can deliver lower-waste, higher-impact exhibition environments.

Sustainability is a Consistent Scene2 Ethos

This Gold award reflects something far bigger than a single stand and single award: it represents Scene2’s ongoing commitment to sustainable design & production. Sustainability has been a guiding force in our 2025 flagship projects in brand experiences, immersive events and cultural installations.

The Deptford “Storehouse” delivered for Sage & Jester, acclaimed for it’s sustainability qualities, saw our team deliver durable modular fit-outs, using responsibly sourced materials, and a fabrication methodology that supported long-term reuse rather than single-event waste.

Our collaborative work on Storehouse demonstrated how creative excellence and environmental responsibility can coexist naturally.  This underscores a trend we are proud to champion: clients and creative partners are increasingly turning to Scene2 because sustainable design is not an “add-on” for us—it is embedded in our DNA and we work to encourage our clients to think the same.

Does sustainable design have to be boring?

Sustainable specifications imposed on briefs seem to churn out design results which compromise on creative decisions, perhaps due to the limitations of material options, however, the BLE Exhibtion stand retained the bold, cinematic storytelling brand message that Universal’s IP demand.

Scene2 are experts in merging theatrical design with strategic brand impact.

This Gold certification recognises that sustainability and spectacle are not mutually exclusive. In fact, when combined, they create environments that are smarter, more efficient and more culturally relevant.

This achievement is shared with our partners, collaborators, and the incredible Universal Studios team who trusted us to bring their world-building vision to life in a Better Stands approved format.

Our team, from concept designers to scenic carpenters to onsite crew worked with the precision, passion, and care that define who Scene2 is.

Sustainable Wins – Our Growing Collection

Our expanding portfolio, with projects like Deptford “Storehouse”, demonstrates how our large-scale IP-driven experiences and immersive installations create culturally-led environments with sustainability central to our design & production approach.

We continue to shape our emerging best practices and remain committed to:

  • Reducing materials waste across all sectors
  • Reusing and repurposing scenic elements wherever possible
  • Investing in sustainable fabrication materials and processes
  • Designing for longevity—not landfill
  • Championing the Better Stands movement and equivalent frameworks across our industry

This Gold award represents a milestone in our heritage; one that reinforces our position as a strategic experiential partner, not just a production supplier.
