Scene2 Appoint Joint Managing Directors

INDUSTRY LEADING EVENT PRODUCTION MANAGERS SCENE2 ANNOUNCE NEW BUSINESS STRUCTURE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT GROWTH AND EXPANSION

Amber Nicol and David Whealy appointed Joint Managing Directors of Scene2 Ltd.

Scene2 Ltd, one of the UK’s leading companies to specialise in the design and build of full immersive productions, bespoke exhibitions and structures such as pop-up shops announce the restructure of their senior team.

Amber Nicol, previously Production Manager and David Whealy, previously Workshop Manager at Scene2 will step up to the role of Joint Managing Director Working closely with founders Susan Walker CEO and Andy Dixon CCO.

Founded over 25 years ago, Scene2 has found itself in the last ten years or so at the forefront of the immersive and live experience sector, helping to create some of the most well recognised and loved productions in the business, delivering exciting and creative answers to marketing briefs. They are the industry leaders in design, production & build – a trusted partner for brands, agencies, charities, and the theatre and film industries. Notable projects in their comprehensive portfolio have included Storehouse in Deptford, London, Carlsberg: If Carlsberg did chocolate bars, Absolute: Pornstar Martini Townhouse, EE Learn Live, Lego Movie 2, Universal and World Vision, Layered Reality’s The Gunpowder Plot, Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience, CBeebies Rainbow Adventure for EBP Productions, SAW – Escape Experience London, The Paddington Bear Experience and Monopoly Lifesized London and Monopoly Travel Edition in the US for Path Entertainment.

Founded and led by Andy Dixon and Susan Walker since 1999, Scene2’s ascent to the pinnacle of the sector has been a tribute to the vision of the Co-founders, who have now decided to reconfigure the senior leadership team and enhance the creative direction and day-to-day operations of the business.

Stepping into the newly created positions, Amber Nicol and David Whealy will assume shared Managing Director responsibilities, each with a defined skill set brought to the table.

At the same time, Scene2 have also completely overhauled their website, relaunching their online presence to coincide with the significant changes taking place within the business as it moves forwards to an even brighter future. The new executive will be entrusted with a program of expansion while delivering the consistency and industry-leading attention to creative detail and quality that Scene2 are renowned for. Driving the next phase of Scene2’s story and Amber and David will bring their deep knowledge and industry experience to oversee all aspects of the business.

Speaking about the ambitions for the business David said: “My experience as Workshop Manager has given me the expertise to see where we can improve our operating efficiencies. Working alongside Amber with her talent with people, we will continue to strengthen team relations and make Scene2 the ‘place to be’ in the industry. My aim is to increase our production capabilities, whether that is in volume of work or the quality and kind of work we produce whilst upskilling the Scene2 team to do things they never thought they were capable of”

Amber continues: “We are thrilled to be given the opportunity by Andy & Susan to build and upskill our creative thinking and engaged team who produce incredible projects. No day is the same in our industry and at Scene2we celebrate that! My aim is to foster our productive yet fun working environment whilst ensuring operational efficiencies and projects are kept on budget. I am looking forward to being a presence at networking events and to building more relationships with future clients”  

Susan Walker, CEO, will continue to advise the Scene2 team on a day-to-day, offering guidance across all areas of the business from production to financials to client development, alongside now having time to spend on her other passion of charitable work.

Andy Dixon, CCO will continue to work with Scene2 as Creative Design lead while at the same time joining Path Entertainment in-house to help with their own expansion plans. Andy has a long-term working relationship with Path Entertainment and this is a natural fit for both businesses.

Industry auteurs Andy and Susan are confident that they are making a bold but exciting decision for the company, with the handover to Amber and David a natural secession and new chapter for Scene2 filled with potential for both consolidation and change.
