Scene2’s Solution
Design & Production
Working with The Sunshine Company, Scene2 constructed a fully functioning pop-up café to promote the release of The LEGO® Movie 2.
The activation transformed a standard shipping container into a life-sized recreation of the coffee shop featured in the film, creating a highly immersive and instantly recognisable destination for fans. Designed to capture the playful and colourful aesthetic of the LEGO universe, the environment blurred the line between movie set and real-world brand experience.
Workshop Production
Scene2 transformed the shipping container into a themed café environment designed to appear as though it had been constructed entirely from oversized LEGO bricks.
A wide range of bespoke scenic elements were produced for the activation, including custom-built lampshades, a themed coffee machine and oversized LEGO-inspired coffee cups. By combining scenic construction, prop making and specialist finishing techniques, the team recreated the distinctive visual style of the film while ensuring the café remained fully operational throughout the campaign.
Every element was carefully detailed to maximise authenticity and create memorable photo opportunities for visitors.
Installation & Delivery
Scene2 managed the installation and deployment of the activation, creating a fully functioning pop-up café capable of operating in multiple locations.
Following its launch in London, the installation toured internationally, travelling to Amsterdam before concluding its promotional run in Hasselt. The structure was designed to support repeated deployment while maintaining the visual quality and operational functionality required throughout the campaign.
Project Overview
To celebrate the release of The LEGO® Movie 2, Warner Bros. commissioned a unique experiential activation designed to immerse audiences within the world of the film.
Working alongside experiential agency The Sunshine Company, Scene2 was appointed to construct a fully operational pop-up café inspired by the fictional coffee chain featured in the movie. The challenge was to transform a standard shipping container into a life-sized film set that could function as a real café while remaining faithful to the playful aesthetic of the LEGO brand.
The resulting installation featured oversized LEGO-inspired scenic elements, custom-built props and detailed themed finishes that created the illusion of a café built entirely from giant bricks. Visitors were invited to step inside the world of the film while enjoying refreshments in a highly Instagrammable environment.
The activation generated significant public interest during its London launch, where stars Tiffany Haddish and Chris Pratt surprised fans by serving coffee and doughnuts as part of the “Awesome Week” promotional campaign. Following its success, the café toured internationally, extending the campaign’s reach across Europe.
The project demonstrates how scenic construction, themed environments and experiential marketing can combine to create memorable brand experiences that connect audiences directly with major entertainment properties.
