Working alongside Inventive Productions, Scene2 designed and delivered the physical world of Hexmoor, translating the creative vision into a fully realised immersive environment.
Each space was designed to support the overarching narrative, with careful attention paid to atmosphere, authenticity and audience interaction. Scenic details were integrated throughout the experience to reinforce the prison setting and create moments of discovery for guests.
Workshop & Fabrication
Our workshop team fabricated a wide range of bespoke scenic elements, including prison cells, guard quarters, corridors and interactive set pieces.
The build combined durable construction methods with detailed scenic finishes, ensuring the environment could withstand high visitor numbers while maintaining a premium immersive experience.
Installation & Delivery
Scene2 managed the delivery and installation of the scenic environments on site, coordinating the integration of multiple themed spaces to create a seamless guest journey throughout the venue.
The completed installation successfully transformed the location into a believable wizarding prison, ready for performers and guests to inhabit from day one.
Project Overview
Hexmoor is a 105-minute immersive cocktail experience that transports guests into the world’s first wizarding prison. Hidden behind a secret doorway, visitors are transformed from guests into inmates, processed into the facility and immersed in a narrative-driven environment housing some of the world’s most dangerous wielders of dark magic.
Created by Inventive Productions, the team behind the hugely successful Alcotraz experience, Hexmoor was designed to deliver a highly engaging and theatrical customer journey. Since opening on Hackney Road, the experience has attracted a loyal following and achieved a 4.8-star customer rating.
Scene2 partnered closely with Inventive Productions to bring the entire environment to life, delivering the design, fabrication and installation of the immersive prison world. The project required the creation of a series of interconnected spaces that supported both the narrative and operational requirements of the experience.
From prison cells and guard quarters to hidden corridors and interactive scenic elements, every detail was carefully considered to strengthen the storytelling and maximise audience immersion. The result is a richly layered environment where visitors are not simply observing the story but actively becoming part of it.
Challenges We Overcame
Creating a fully immersive theatrical environment within a commercial hospitality setting required careful coordination between storytelling, operational requirements and scenic design.
The experience demanded a series of highly detailed environments that could withstand continuous public use while maintaining the authenticity of the prison setting. Scenic elements also needed to support performer interaction and guest engagement throughout the experience.
Additionally, the various spaces had to work seamlessly together to create a believable journey through the prison, ensuring guests remained immersed from arrival through to the conclusion of the experience.
