The Brief

June 2107 saw hundreds marching the streets in national protests for #Orkambinow. The protests called for a solution to allow people with Cystic Fibrosis access to the precision ‘wonder drug’ Orkambi. Scene2 was briefed by LIVE to produce a striking, life-sized, mobile prop which could bring impact to this campaign message and accompany protesters on their marches. In October 2019, the cystic fibrosis medicine – Orkambi – was given the green light in England.

Our Solution

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition which affects the lungs. Working closely with LIVE to ensure the correct balance of impact and tone, Scene2 created a portable prop unit which contained a “trapped human” sinister figure who appeared to be fighting for breath. Utilising the Cystic Fibrosis Trust brand colour, this lightweight, yet sturdy, bold yellow unit had integral lighting and was paraded as part of the campaign marches to demonstrate the suffocation as felt by sufferers.
