HP Dragonfly – Sculptural Product Launch
Product Launch Sculptural Prop
To support the launch of the new HP Dragonfly Elite laptop, The Department asked us to produce a giant dragonfly inspired sculptural installation to tour high footfall train stations around the UK.
The challenge for this project was to recreate the delicate nature of a drogonfly’s wings on a large enough scale to standout in busy Uk train stations. 5mm clear acrylic sheets were printed, spray painted, & laminated with a sheet of dichroic film to produce the “shimmering” effect of a dragonfly’s wings. In addition, CNC cut Dibond circuitry with a glitter spray painted finish was attached to the reverse to add a technological “layer”. Addressable LED tape was programmed & embedded in the perimeter of each wing to add movement & light to the sculpture. The laptops were displayed on bespoke plinths with rotating magnetic levitation devices to highlight the #lighterthanair nature of the device.
