Football gets a commercial Summer Surprise
Andy Dixon - July 2016
In a surprising and clever commercialization move to attract visitors, Chelsea Football Club have now given guests every reason to visit one of London’s top sporting venues outside of the football season by visiting their pop up summer garden at Stamford Bridge.
The summer season conjures thoughts of a sizzling BBQ, cooling drinks from the outdoor bar and sport on a big screen. Now with Euro 2016 over, a football stadium may not be the obvious choice, for this summertime evening experience.
Putting Stamford Bridge on the pop-up party venue map this summer, Chelsea FC has confirmed itself as not just a winter sporting venue.
Surrounded by white picket fence, the pop-up summer garden leads visitors on a golden pathway set within a bright green lawn. Once inside, the bold blue timber BBQ shack provides both food and drink. Guests are encouraged to kick back, relax and enjoy the summer sunshine (dependent on the wonderful British weather of course!) on the whitewashed decking, in deckchairs with a delicious drink in hand.
Festoons of fairy lights decorate the tree lined terraces to ensure the Chelsea FC summer experience can be enjoyed late into the evenings. Grass covered TV shacks also ensure sport lovers are catered for; with 75” UHD TVs, covering the 2016 summer of sport.
“Our new pop-up Summer Garden provides a relaxed space for the wealth of local families and corporate groups on our doorstep as well as offering first-time visitors something they might not have expected.” Simon Hunter, Head of Venue and Brand
CFC Summer garden is open at Stamford Bridge Stadium from May – mid August 2016.
